commission process
If you would like to inquire about commissioning an original piece, it’s best to start with an email inquiry. It’s often difficult to hear the phone while we’re working in the shop. In your message, please include as many details as possible and reference pieces in our portfolio if appropriate. We’ll respond within 48 hours to discuss if the possible commission is a good fit for us, a rough cost estimate, possible timeline and set up a phone call to discuss details if necessary. After receiving that information, if you’d like to move forward we’ll send an invoice for a deposit and design fee of $250. This deposit will add you to our build queue, provide a quote and sketches of the proposed design, and will be credited to the final price of the piece. Our backlog is often 4-6 months to start a new commission, sometimes less. 30 days before we’re ready to start we’ll be in contact to confirm final details and then send an invoice for 50% of the total price of the commission minus the deposit. The balance is due upon completion including Virginia sales tax.
We can deliver small pieces for free within a 50 mile radius of our studio in Springfield, VA. Delivery of larger pieces in the local area will incur a small fee to cover the cost of the appropriate rental truck and labor if necessary. Outside of the local area, we can provide an estimate for delivery upon request. We can also ship furniture in a custom made wooden crate via UPS or white glove delivery.
We often have a few pieces available for immediate sale left over from shows available in our shop. If you’re interested in an item there and would like to have it shipped please contact us.
We guarantee our workmanship under normal use, but do not repair or refinish the work of others.
